“Spring is the time of plans and Projects”

The destinations of the Dominican Republic have achieved a special place in international tourism. From many parts of the world they come to the land of merengue to have fun, relax and have a great time.

The country has been part of numerous movies and countless weddings.

The Dominican Republic is full of charming tourist destinations for the whole family with different levels of luxury and adventure, according to each pocket. The country has Caribbean beaches and also the Atlantic Ocean.

So, without further ado, let’s start with this top 5 of the best tourist attractions in the Dominican Republic for 2022.

1.Punta Cana, Altagracia

At number 1 we have this famous point in the Dominican Republic, a Caribbean paradise of soft sand popular for its great hotels and resorts.

Among them, the two that stand out the most are the Sanctuary Cap Cana and the Occidental Punta Cana, with a very good quality-price proposal and excellent gastronomic offers.

It is such a famous tourist destination that almost all major airlines have direct flights to this site.

What everyone misses to see and love as Punta Cana is really Bávaro, as it is an area that gives you a fantastic atmosphere.

Among the activities that you can enjoy there are, together with the beaches, tours to Monkeyland, a coffee plantation and safari at the same time, as well as horseback riding along the coastline.

You can also roll down the longest zip line in the Caribbean, and at night dance at the Disco Imagine Punta Cana.

A high percentage of international tourists make a stopover on this beautiful island, located in the territory of the National Park of the East, crossing the Catuano Channel starting on the coast and heading south.

The native Taínos, who initially inhabited the island, named it Andamay, and over time it became Isla Saona.

The recently-ranked #1 resort in Punta Cana, Eden Roc Cap Cana, is bringing the Adirondacks to its Caribbean shores for a series of curated culinary experiences this April 6-9, 2022. Executive Chef Loïc Leperlier of The Point resort will bring the resort’s signature communal style dining to the only Relais & Châteaux in the Dominican Republic, joining Eden Roc’s very own Chef Adriano Venturini for a collaborative gastronomy journey that celebrates the best of both properties.

Eden Roc Cap Cana has a diverse culinary program helmed by Chef Venturini, with various restaurants onsite each with their own distinctive personality that is celebrated through striking décor and unique curated menus. From the property’s signature fine-dining restaurant Mediterraneo to the convivial beachside La Palapa and all-day BLUE Bar & Grill, each experience is complemented by an unparalleled setting that will be activated through this partnership.

The Point is an 11-room all-inclusive Relais & Châteaux resort in the Adirondacks in New York. Originally built as a Great Camp for William Avery Rockefeller II, The Point offers guest an intimate “house party” atmosphere complete with communal wine-paired dinners, daily cocktail parties and self-service bars sprinkled throughout the property. The Point comes to Eden Roc Cap Cana in April while their own kitchen undergoes a long-awaited renovation that will be unveiled this summer. The historic kitchen has served The Point since the 1930s and its new design will enhance the creativity of Chef Loïc Leperlier and his team, while preserving beloved amenities such as a vintage General Electric refrigerator from 1932. With the redesign underway, Chef Leperlier will be bringing The Point’s culinary heritage to Eden Roc Cap Cana’s tables, and this will be the only opportunity to experience a taste of The Point while the property undergoes these kitchen updates.

“We are looking forward to welcoming Chef Loïc Leperlier this April to our beachfront oasis and introducing our guests to the communal and extravagant dining experience for which The Point is known,” says Managing Director at Eden Roc Cap Cana Stefano Baratelli. “The multi-day experience will capture the flavors of our resort and pair them with the exceptional talent of Chef Leperlier, who has created a unique gastronomy program in the Adirondacks.”

“I’m honored to be collaborating with Chef Venturini to bring a taste of The Point to Eden Roc Cap Cana,” said Chef Loïc Leperlier. “From our nightly communal dinners to our signature barbeque lunches every Saturday, The Point’s culinary heritage is built on community and coming together. This collaboration with Chef Venturini and Eden Roc underscores The Point’s longtime dining traditions, while celebrating my friendship and shared culinary ethos with Chef Venturini.”

Chef Leperlier’s professional tenure has included Michelin Star restaurants and Five-Star resorts in Europe and French Polynesia where he perfected his farm-to-table philosophy. His style of cooking combines French cuisine with his Réunion roots accented by Indian, African and Chinese influences, all of which he will bring to the plates of Eden Roc Cap Cana.

This lavish mix of events is designed to encourage guests to indulge in The Point’s iconic culinary offerings as they please, whether it be the decadent nightly experiences or a day-time casual meal. After years of a closely connected professional relationship and friendship, Chefs Leperlier and Venturini are thrilled to come together for four days of spectacular dining beside the waves and beneath the stars, a long-time dream finally realized at Eden Roc Cap Cana.

The April program consists of four evenings with curated menus spread across the property’s elegant, Mediterranean-reminiscent restaurants — La Palapa, BLUE Bar & Gril, and Mediterraneo. The program will end in a spectacular dinner and wine event where Chef Leperlier and Chef Venturini serve up their best dishes in a collaborative menu.

The program schedule includes the following:

  • Wednesday, April 6: The chef residency will kick off with a private, romantic dinner on the pristine shoreline. Chef Leperlier will prepare a special private menu with premium wine pairing that will be set up on the beach | From 7:00 p.m.
  • Thursday, April 7: Enjoy The Point’s signature family-style BBQ on the pool deck and outdoor terrace at BLUE Bar & Grill. The menu will include Point-style fried chicken, smoked brisket, whole fish, beef chili, onion rings, truffle mac and cheese and more. | From 7:00 p.m.
  • Friday, April 8: Chef Leperlier brings The Point’s famed communal dining set up to the BLUE Bar & Grill for a private group (up to 16 guests). Guests dining will have a front row seat to the festivities, as Chef serves up the four-course menu in a unique way as he takes over the open demo kitchen at the restaurant. | From 7 p.m. | Maximum 16 Guests
  • Saturday, April 9: Join us for the final night at Mediterraneo, where a special food and wine event awaits, featuring a collaborative four-hands dinner by Chef Leperlier and Chef Venturini, including a premium wine pairing menu. Featured dishes will include prawn bisque “cappuccino,” kataifi wrapped lamb loin with babaganoush, dukkha, morels, heirloom carrots and cumin jus and roasted pineapple with tres leches ice cream and cake. | From 7 p.m.

The 5 Best Things to Do in Cap Cana, Dominican Republic

Cap Cana, the Dominican Republic’s luxury destination zone in Punta Cana, may be home to some of the most high-end resorts in the country, but a trip there is not complete without doing these outside-of-the-hotel activities.

During a visit to the Palladium Group’s TRS Cap Cana Hotel, Caribbean Journal recently toured the destination and came away with a handful of Cap Cana offerings that could easily be the highlights of a Dominican Republic vacation.

Here they are.

Scape Park – Scape Park is easily the most popular activity at Cap Cana, especially amongst families with teenagers, said Napoleón Luzardo Gonzalez, food and beverage director at TRS Cap Cana Hotel who showed us the best of the area.

The park includes zip-lining on a cliff, exploring ancient caverns, swimming in underground caves, and jumping from water zip lines.

Also, guests here have the option at an additional cost to cruise and snorkel in tropical waters.

Guests can grab the wheel of Can-Am 4×4 off-road buggies and ride through Scape Park’s dirt trails, puddles, and muddy terrain. Obviously, guests here should bring a change of clothes if they plan on dining before they go back to the hotel since they are bound to get absolutely filthy from this adventure.

Other activities at Scape Park include the Cultural Route and the Cave Swim. The Cultural Route features a journey where guests will be able to see replicas of the homes of the ancient Taino Indians and other cultural structures.

The Cave Swim offers guests an opportunity to dive into an underground spring and swim in the same waters previously used by the ancient natives for sacred rituals.

With a TRS Cap Cana bracelet, guests receive a 20 percent discount at the Scape Park, said Gonzalez.

Punta Espada Golf Club

Golf enthusiasts staying at any Cap Cana hotel will be treated to one of the best Jack Nicklaus-designed courses in the Caribbean.

In fact, Punta Espada, a Jack Nicklaus Signature golf course, which opened in 2006, has been ranked by Golfweek Magazine as the number one golf course in the Caribbean and Mexico for eight consecutive years.

It is a par-72 course that features eight holes that play along and over the sea. In fact, from all of Punta Espada, golfers are treated to views of the Caribbean Sea.

Los Establos (stables) Cap Cana

For those looking for something a bit unorthodox for the Dominican Republic, check out the horse stables at Los Establos Cap Cana.

The first project of its type in the Dominican Republic, Los Establos invites Cap Cana visitors to either observe the beautiful horses, watch others ride them in obstacles courses, or hop on and go for either a beginning or challenging trail. Gonzalez said the most popular months to visit Los Establish are March and July when the stables host polo tournaments.

“A lot of people are pleasantly surprised at this place,” said Gonzalez, “because they don’t usually expect to see something like this, like horses and horseback riding, in the Dominican. It’s usually beaches and pools, not horses.”

Juanillo Beach

Juanillo Beach, one of the most beautiful beaches in Punta Cana, is practically a private beach for Cap Cana guests.

It is technically public, but visitors need to pass through the main gates of Cap Cana to enter, usually deterring non-guests of Cap Cana hotels from entering.

However, anyone can enjoy the beach, but non-guests of Cap Cana will have to tell the guard at the main gate that they are visiting Juanillo Beach and will be required to leave their I.D. with the guard.

So, what’s the appeal? Why not just stay at your hotel’s beach?

Unlike many beaches in Punta Cana, Juanillo Beach is never crowded, making it perfect for couples looking for privacy as they take walks along the beach.

Also, the water is calm and shallow, perfect for beginning swimmers, making it a draw amongst families as well.

The beach is wide with plenty of shaded spots and lounging areas. We were told the beach can be “night and day.” It is relaxing and mellow during the week and lively during weekends with live music and events, making it a great fit for both couples and families.

A Visit to Saona Island

For a great family day trip, visitors to Cap Cana should spend an afternoon at Saona Island. This private island is a haven for water games, natural pools, and scuba diving. It also includes a private restaurant.

Saona Island lies off the southeastern tip of the Dominican Republic. Part of the East National Park, it’s known for mangroves and coral reefs and palm-fringed beaches like Palmilla Beach.

Visitors here should also check out Mano Juan, a laid-back fishing village near Flamingo Lagoon. It is adorned with colorful shacks and a turtle sanctuary. For culture lovers, to the west is the Cave of Cotubanama, which has pre-Columbian rock art that can make for a perfect Instagram photo.

Marina Cap Cana

Boat lovers will be pleased with the views and experience of the Marina Cap Cana. This is where the area’s largest yachts can be seen.

Marina Cap Cana offers more than 130 slips, accommodating up to 150-foot yachts, with complete services for captains and crew.

It is surrounded by a village with gourmet restaurants and boutiques. Its coastlines and proximity make it the ideal spot for fishing and deep-water diving.
